Norton Vines, Timeless Wines

December 31, 2024

January is Norton month! This month we celebrate this bold full-bodied Missouri varietal. Whichever Missouri Norton is your favorite, grab a glass and celebrate the timeless wine of Norton with us this month!

Norton (nore-tuhn) holds the honor of the official Missouri state grape as an American grape in 1835 originating near Richmond, Virginia. As the premium red wine grape in Missouri, this varietal is known for its hardiness and disease resistance. It is a widely grown grape varietal across the state of Missouri and can be found at most Missouri wineries!

The nose and mouth will pick up on flavors of spice, vanilla, chocolate notes layered with fruit flavors of berries, ripe cherries and currants. When sipping this wine, Norton is a full-bodied and complex dry red wine.

Pair it with cheddar cheese, hazelnuts, smoked meats and dark chocolate cake. Norton when cooking with these delicious recipes varying from sweet to savory!
