Spooky Root Beer Float

Here’s a deliciously decadent and frightful twist on this simple sundae. Port-style wine is perfect for dessert on its own but combine it with your favorite float recipe and it is sure to satify your sweet tooth. Make this to celebrate Halloween after dinner or mix up one of these floats year-round for a new way to enjoy Missouri dessert wine.

Ingredients

1 bottle Port-style dessert wine (we used 2022 Missouri Wine Competition’s winning Signature Port from Adam Puchta Winery)

1 quart of vanilla ice cream

1 bottle of root beer soda

1 bottle of cherry syrup (optional)

Instructions

  1. Scoop desired amount of ice cream into sundae container.
  2. Add 2oz of Port-style dessert wine.
  3. Top off sundae with root beer.
  4. Drizzle with cherry syrup to make it extra spooky. (optional)

Berry Black 7&7 Winetail

A new and spooky spin on an old favorite! This fruit forward winetail is sure to satisfy if you are enjoying alone or with friends. This simple drink is perfect for upcoming Halloween celebrations as well.  

Serves one

Ingredients

1 bottle Blackberry wine (we used Adam Puchta Winery’s Berry Black)

3.5 oz Seagram’s 7 Whiskey

1 bottle Cherry 7UP

Cherry pull ‘n peel licorice

Instructions

  1. Freeze Berry Black wine into ice cubes.
  2. Add frozen wine cubes to glass.
  3. Pour 3.5 oz of whiskey into glass.
  4. Top off glass with Cherry 7UP.
  5. Rim glass with licorice. (optional)

Scared Sour Candy Winetail

Mix up this sweet and sour candy Hallo-wine cocktail for a fun treat this October. It is also perfect to help use leftover candy from Trick or Treating. Let this Missouri Vidal Blanc recipe inspire you to create your own concoction.

Serves 2 – adjust as needed

Ingredients

Nerds candy, crushed

1 fresh lemon

6 oz white wine – we used Vidal Blanc

4.5 oz Deep Eddy’s Lemon Vodka

2-3 c ice

Sour gummy worms

½ c Squirt soda

Instructions

  1. Rim glassware with fresh lemon and coat in crushed Nerds
  2. Add juice of one-half lemon to shaker or glass followed by wine and vodka. Stir or shake with ice to chill.
  3. In glassware, add sour gummies and pour mixture over the candy. Top off the mixture with the desired amount of Squirt soda. Enjoy!

Aperol Spritz Sangria

The classic Aperol Spritz has made a big comeback in 2022. The recipe, featuring equal parts of sparkling wine, Aperol and club soda, create a bright orange refreshing aperitif. Add a little fruit to make a refreshing Sangria, perfect for a single serving or for entertaining friends with this fall. Check out the simple recipe:

Ingredients

  • Missouri sparkling wine (we used Blanc de Blancs)
  • Aperol Liqueur
  • Club Soda
  • 2 large apples
  • 3 pears

Instructions

  1. Fill selected container one-third full with ice.
  2. Decide where the mix should end in the container, leaving room for fruit.
  3. Open sparkling wine and pour one-third of the way full.
  4. Add another equal one-third pour of Aperol Liqueur.
  5. Complete the three-part mixture with club soda.
  6. Chop apples and pears into desired cubes and combine with mixture.
  7. Stir Sangria and serve!
