Buffalo Creek Winery
The winery is located in a renovated circa 1900s barn and is situated high on a bluff overlooking Lake Ozark at the 70 MM. It is also accessible by boat. The winery offers hand-crafted, minimally-processed wines. There are two decks to enjoy the stunning lake views in a park-like, natural setting. The winery is also used as an event space for weddings and special events.
The winery was originally established in 1988 by James D. Stephens. In 1997, the tasting room and related wine-making operations were moved to its current location. In 2009, Jim’s son, Matt Stephens, and his wife, Teresa, took over all operations. Matt, having worked closely with his father and having an extensive background in chemistry and direct winery experience, is making small batches of wine, by hand. The wine is produced on site using estate-grown grapes and production is supplemented from local grape growers. Seyval Blanc, Vignoles and Catawba are a few of the wines that have been made available to date. Fruit wine is also in production as is old-vine Concord (the vines are 25 years old). Tastings are available along with gourmet meat and cheese trays. Motel renovations are on-going and there is a campground nearby.
